Beijing, 8-9 November 2024. A CRUI delegation of 17 Rectors participated in the “China-Italy University Presidents' Dialogue”, organized by Peking University. The event, which was also attended by Marcella Gargano, Director General of the Institutions of Higher Education (MUR), represented a main step of discussion on the challenges awaiting universities in the field of scientific and technological development, and in that of innovation in the social and human sciences.
The meeting was part of the Cultural Forum organized in Beijing during the State visit of President Mattarella, who held a Lectio Magistralis at Peking University on the afternoon of November 9, which was also attended by the Italian rectors.
Among the agreements signed between China and Italy during the Beijing meetings, one in particular involves MUR and the Chinese Ministry of Higher Education, which provides - among other things - a mechanism for regular consultation on higher education issues, the launch of a joint commission between the two ministries, as well as - with the collaboration of the CRUI - the establishment of both a forum of rectors and regular interactions.
This agreement completes the bilateral consultation mechanism already launched with China through the various editions of the "Week of Science, Innovation and Technology", which involves the Chinese Ministry of Science, and which for 2024 will be held in Italy in Naples and Venice from 26 to 28 November.
